Fixed in git, commit 4a403ae0, by not wiping the status bar any more when redrawing all the subwindows.  (Bug #52997 is not relevant any more, as NetBSD builds nano against ncurses now.)

The offending commit is 58ed3a81: "wipe the status bar when doing a total refresh".  Obviously.  :|

Version 2.9.7 and 2.9.4 built from a tarball hide the line too.

Strange...  The 2.9.8 built from a tarball works fine, but from git... no, it hides the line too.   Hm...  Could the gnulib stuff influence this?  Because when building (bisecting) from git, I always use the current state of gnulib, not the historic one.

To reproduce, reduce an xterm window to a single row.  Then run 'src/nano --ignore THANKS'.  Now make the xterm window narrower.  At some point the text ("The following people...") will disappear (and sometimes shortly reappear -- I don't understand the logic).  Try typing ^L.  It doesn't help, the text does not reappear.  Now type <Down> <Up>.  Only now the line of text is displayed again.

Bug exists since version 3.0.  Version 2.9.8 and before worked fine.
