Attached is an improved patch.  It works both with and without --autoindent.  Undo and redo should work.  If you find any problems, please report.

Here's a rough first implementation.  It should be behind some kind of option, something like --copyquotes, but that is of later concern.  It requires --autoindent to be on.  No promises that this will become part of nano, it's just a tentative look, but... it would be quite cool.

When writing code, with long lines hard-wrapped, it would be quite convenient if the comment string (such as '#', '%' or '//'), already present on the first line, could be added automatically at the beginning of each new line.

Thus one could write long comments in terminals <= 80 cols without hving to juggle with Alt-L and ^J.
