I don't know, I do not use that part of the Makefile.
Does the redundancy cause some misbehavior or unnecessary repetition in the build?
Makefile (and Makefile.in) are generated files. This redundancy does not come from their ultimate origin, Makefile.am at the top level. I have to assume the redundancy is being introduced by Makefile.am files in subdirectories. Maybe someone who understands the build system better (like Bertrand) can speak to this.
Subject: Makefile: "momtmacdir", "otherdocdir", and "tmacdir" are named twice in an argument list 1) In the variable "am__installdirs" 2) In the target "installdirs:"
