Screen version 4.99.0

    python -c 'print("が..")'

or

    ruby -e 'puts "が.."'

outputs in screen - " ÿ..", outside - "が.."

This is what I got in 4.9.0 right now:

ruby.ruby2.7 -e 'puts "が.."'
が..

We have UTF-8 fix in 4.9.0.
Fixed?

Hello,

Any update on this bug?

This is still happening today with 4.6.2

UTF-8 is now common (and the default on most distributions)

For me the erroneous output is
がÿ.ÿ.
which then on a subsequent resize of the terminal emulator window changes to
が.ÿ.
(yes with U+FFFD replacement symbols).

I tried to port this 7 year old patch to master, maybe I messed it up, but it doesn't properly fix the bug for me. With the patch the output becomes
が.ÿ.
and remains so after a resize.

Screen outputs screen "ÿ" after a connected character.
This is a character without the need. This issue happens in UTF-8 environment.

Before :
      screen$ ruby1.9.1 -e 'puts "が.."'
      がÿ...
patch applied :
      screen $ ruby1.9.1 -e 'puts "が.."'
      が..

Murata-san (mrkn@ruby-lang.org) made the patch which revised this problem.
