When using printer redirection (via ESC[5i), if the printer codes contain a null character portions of the output including the null and following the null character will be replaced with blocks of spaces (0x20). I have only observed this behavior when outputting using termcap/terminfo to the printer attached to the terminal. If I redirect the output to a file via "printcmd 'cat > output", it will work correctly. I verified this by putting my printer in hex-dump mode and comparing the output that was coming out using screen and not using screen.
