Granted, this is a very exotic feature idea, and is unlikely ever to be implemented.

That being said, if you look at the link into the wiki that I posted in the description, you'll see that I planned to avoid using non-ascii characters: it's transliterated stuff only. So no switching keyboards.

Problems with characters that look the same in latin and non-latin alphabets are only a problem if we translate short options, too, which would be a poor idea.

I don't think polls will be terribly useful at this stage in time for determining which features are important; and the existing Wget community is unfortunately far too small (especially compared to the number of actual users) to be useful in determining the general sentiment regarding proposed ideas. The mailing list seems to be the current best source, but is still far from adequate.

If its possible you can add make a poll.

My opinion that it is useless feature, because most of work in shell we are doing using non native characters, and even typeing "wget <switch keyboard> {parameters in russian} <switch keyboard> {url and possibly other non locolized parameters like robots.txt}" is not comfortable. Also will be a problem with characters that looks the same in latin and non latic alphabates... I just dont see how it will be, and why it will be usefull :)

A rather exotic idea, and one that has generally not been done before with other command-line tools, usually for good reasons.

See http://wget.addictivecode.org/FeatureSpecifications/LocalizedOptionNames for more info, including potential pitfalls to avoid.
