Hi,

I have approved your project [as non-GNU].

You will receive an automated e-mail containing detailed information about the approval.

If you EVER would like to offer your project to the GNU project,
please contact the GNU Eval team, following the instructions at
http://www.gnu.org/help/evaluation.html .

Regards.

I've uploaded the revised source code.

Thank you.

Hello.

At first, your project is not yet part of the GNU project, so we cannot accept its current name.

While there are non-GNU programs with names that include 'gnu',
such as gnuplot and gnuboy, they are not hosted on Savannah.
We want to maintain the distinction between GNU and non-GNU projects.

When your project is accepted into the GNU project you may change its name. You can do this by asking us.

You should also change your project name in your source code.

At second, the address of the FSF has changed, and is now:

51 Franklin Street, Fifth Floor, Boston, MA  02110-1301  USA

Please update your license notices.

Updates versions of the GPL, LGPL and GFDL can also be found at:
http://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl.txt
http://www.gnu.org/licenses/lgpl.txt
http://www.gnu.org/licenses/fdl.txt

Please update the copy of the license (usually, the 'COPYING' file) in your package as well.

You can find some background and a possible migration script at https://savannah.gnu.org/forum/forum.php?forum_id=3766

Hello. Where is your source code now? Can you please attach it directly to this tracker item instead of sending it to me per mail?

Hello Sebastian,

thank you for your clarifications.

Unfortunatly, there is no project that one could contribute to. Problems in the game of Go denote special board situations where only one or very few move sequences lead to a desirable outcome.
For an introduction to the Game of Go see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Go_(board_game) .
For information about Problems (Tsumego) see http://senseis.xmp.net/?Tsumego .

This project is meant as a complementary project to GNU Go, a Go playing engine which is part of GNU.

There is a proprietary program that solves problems in the game of Go called gotools ( http://lie.math.brocku.ca/gotools/ ). This project aims to replace gotools with free software.

There are no technical requirements besides an ANSI C compiler. No external libraries are needed. Currently, the program only uses file and terminal I/O. The software is being developed and tested on a GNU/Linux system with both gcc and tcc.

In a couple days, I will send you the source code by email.

Regards,
Hansi

Hi,
I'm evaluating the project you submitted for approval in Savannah.

At first, "so-called problems (Tsumego) in the game of Go" - why don't you contribute these bugfixes directly to them and don't open a new project for it?

At second, note that commercial does not mean proprietary.

Free Software means that users have certain freedoms; it does not mean zero price.
"Commercial" means "associated with business"; a commercial program may be free or non-free, depending on its license.
So it is a mistake to treat "free" and "commercial" as contraries.  When a business develops free software,
that is free commercial software.

At third, we  need a detailed technical description that specifies such requirements as programming languages and external libraries.
It should be at least one-half a page.

At fourth, please include a (perhaps temporary) URL pointing to the source code.
The description you gave when registering will not be read by the general public.
If you are still concerned with privacy, however, you can forward the code to me by email.

We wish to review your source code, even if it is not functional, to catch potential legal issues early.

For example, to release your program properly under the GPL you must include a copyright notice and
permission-to-copy statements at the beginning of every file of source code.  This is explained in
http://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl-howto.html.  Our review would help catch potential omissions such as these.

A new project has been registered at Savannah
The project account will remain inactive until a site admin approve or discard the registration.

######### REGISTRATION ADMINISTRATION #########

While this item will be useful to track the registration process, approving or discarding the registration must be done using the specific "Group Administration" page, accessible only to site administrators, effectively logged as site administrators (superuser):
