Hi,

plugin.xml has now been modified to contain the copyright+license information.

Apologies for removing the "How to Apply
These Terms to Your New Programs" section, I wasn't sure if it was considered part of the GPL. I have downloaded the GPL again and replaced the edited version. Also, the file is now called "COPYING".

The FSF address has now been updated in all files (thanks for the URL for the script - it worked perfectly).

I have uploaded a version with the changes described.

Thanks for your help so far with applying the license correctly, and pointers for keeping things consistent with other Free Software programs, it is appreciated.

Peter

Hello.

At first, ./plugin.xml lacks coypright+license information.

At second, the license does not contain the last section, titled "How to Apply
These Terms to Your New Programs".

Please use a complete verbatim copy of the license,
which may be found at http://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl.txt,
http://www.gnu.org/licenses/lgpl.txt or http://www.gnu.org/licenses/fdl.txt.

The license must be copied verbatim and in its entirety.

At third, the address of the FSF has changed, and is now:

51 Franklin Street, Fifth Floor, Boston, MA  02110-1301  USA

Please update your license notices.

Updates versions of the GPL, LGPL and GFDL can also be found at:
http://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl.txt
http://www.gnu.org/licenses/lgpl.txt
http://www.gnu.org/licenses/fdl.txt

Please update the copy of the license (usually, the 'COPYING' file) in your package as well.

You can find some background and a possible migration script at https://savannah.gnu.org/forum/forum.php?forum_id=3766

Hi,

The GIF image has been removed.

I've discussed the license with the other developers and we have agreeed to use the GPL. Following the guidelines at the end of the text on: http://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl.txt, I have added the GPL copyright notice at the start of all source files, along with my email address. A copy of the GPL has also been included in the root folder named LICENSE.

Please change the "X11 license" in my submission to the GPL.

I have attached an updated version of the source.

Thanks,

Peter

Hello.

At first, please remove GIF image files from your project and replace them with an other format (such as PNG or JPEG).

Because of the patents (Unisys and IBM) covering the LZW compression algorithm which are used when making GIF files,
it's impossible to have free software to generate proper GIFs.  These patents also apply to the compress program.

For more information, see http://www.gnu.org/philosophy/gif.html.

At second, in order to release your project properly and unambiguously under the GPL,
please place copyright notices and permission-to-copy statements at the beginning of every file of source code.

In addition, if you haven't already, please include a copy of the plain text version of the GPL,
available from http://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl.txt, into a file named "COPYING".

For more information, see http://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl-howto.html.

The GPL FAQ explains why these procedures must be followed.
To learn why a copy of the GPL must be included with every copy of the code, for example,
see http://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl-faq.html#WhyMustIInclude.

At third, should we change the "X11 license" in your submission to the GPL, if you really meant this?

Regards,

Apologies, the last sentence in my commet #2 is missing, it should read:

I know there is not very much source in this but I hope it's enough as the use of CVS and the mailing list from this early stage would make things a lot easier for me.

Hi,

Yep I did mean GNU GPL. I've looked into running the application on GCJ and I don't foresee any problems with that; GCJ can run Eclipse fine and the application will just be using SWT (which is already part of Eclipse, and works with GCJ). I don't have any problem with making GCJ the default testing platform for the project. I do like to keep my projects only dependent on free software where possible.

The main reason for requesting the Savannah services in such early stages of the project is that we have 3 developers working from different locations - CVS would make getting the project off the ground a lot easier. Also, I would like to use the mailing list in the design stages so that I can offer access to it to the public to request features and maybe give some input on the design of the project..

I have attached the current source that I have, it's quite simple, I've included a screenshot of it running. I know there is not very much source in this but I hope it's enough as the use of CVS and the mailing list from this early stage.

Thanks in advance,

Peter

Hi,
I'm evaluating the project you submitted for approval in Savannah.

At first, you wrote: "We will use the GNU-Compatible X11 License." You mean GNU GPL compatible, right? ;-)

At second, you must determine whether your project can run on a Free Software Java suite
(see http://www.gnu.org/software/java/ for more information).

We recommend you to test your project using GCJ and GNU Classpath, and ensure
that your Java code runs on this Free Software Java suite.

GCJ is the GNU Compiler for Java, part of the GCC (GNU Compiler Collection).
The Classpath project aims to develop a free and portable implementation of the Java API
(the classes in the 'java' package).

More information is available at http://gcc.gnu.org/ and http://www.gnu.org/software/classpath/ .

Please provide us with more information about this point.

At third, if you haven't got any source code yet, how do you plan to use Savannah in the "planning phase" of the project? Is it really necessary to have the project now?

We would prefer to have a look at your source code when you have got any.
Would you accept this policy?

Regards,

The project account will remain inactive until a site admin approve or discard the registration.

######### REGISTRATION ADMINISTRATION #########

While this item will be useful to track the registration process, approving or discarding the registration must be done using the specific "Group Administration" page, accessible only to site administrators, effectively logged as site administrators (superuser):

######### REGISTRATION DETAILS #########

Full Name:
----------
  Multilingual Accent Dictionary Builder

System Group Name:
-----------------
  muadib

Type:
-----
  non-GNU software & documentation

License:
--------
  X11 license

Description:
------------
The "MuADiB Project" is a new project for the analysis of non-native speaker variants. We aim to develop a tool that will assist speech applications to be able to be more robust with non-native speakers. The primary application will be for speech recognition systems to understand speakers that have a strong non-native accent. This is a joint project between two universities: University College Dublin, Ireland, and the University of Carleton, Canada.

The project is in its design stages and there is currently no implementation. The development platforms will be FreeBSD and GNU/Linux. A Windows port is likely. We will use the GNU-Compatible X11 License. The project does initially have 4 people working on it. The implementation will be mostly Java based, some C will be used for signal processing intense parts. We do intend for it to be developed as an eclipse (eclipse.org) plugin, but are also keen to not make it depend on eclipse by having a version that will not require eclipse.

Other Software Required:
------------------------
Java will be the main dependancy. Eclipse will be an optional dependancy. The GUI will be aimed at AWT, and it is likely that the implementation will be JDK1.3 compatible. The system will be tested on a  few different java implementations.

Other Comments:
---------------
Implementation has not been started yet.
