Hello.
It is just a kind of politeness to say "So, now this can be closed now." ;-)

But nevertheless: Thanks for telling.

Firstly, from your post on 1/8 I didn't see any questions, hence no response.

Anyway I recently I set up my own web server (before I was using a gratis host) so I could have control over my site. I'll use that for the Free Rescue CD website.

For the ISOs, I just remembered about BitTorrent.

So, now this can be closed now.

Hi,

I am waiting for an answer from you.

If within one week I still do not get a reply, I will remove your project.
You will still be able to register it again once you have the time to deal with the registration issues.

Are you still willing to host your project at Savannah?
If not, please tell us - we don't bite, and it will make us gain time.

Regards.

Hello.

To publish a website on Savannah is no problem. But we don't allow to host ISOs because of space and bandwidth reasons.

Even if your ISO is <700MB please think of your CVS tree and every commit. It could be even bad.

So if you only want to host ISOs on SV, we can close this submission.

Regards,

I was planning on using the Savannah services for a website and ISO hosting. I'm aiming to keep the CD as small as possible and not go near the 700MB limit.

Thanks for the fast reply :) I was expecting a much longer wait.

Hi,
I'm evaluating the project you submitted for approval in Savannah.

As mentioned in the registration pages, we do not host complete distros,
distros isos, packages repositories, etc, for space and bandwidth reasons.
We may just offer support for organisational purpose and in-house developed software (such as iso creation scripts).

How do you plan to use the Savannah services?

A new project has been registered at Savannah
The project account will remain inactive until a site admin approve or discard the registration.

######### REGISTRATION ADMINISTRATION #########

While this item will be useful to track the registration process, approving or discarding the registration must be done using the specific "Group Administration" page, accessible only to site administrators, effectively logged as site administrators (superuser):

  <https://savannah.gnu.org/admin/groupedit.php?group_id=8251>

######### REGISTRATION DETAILS #########

Full Name:
----------
  Free Rescue CD

System Group Name:
-----------------
  frcd

Type:
-----
  non-GNU software & documentation

License:
--------
GNU General Public License V2 or later

Description:
------------
I am making a Gentoo GNU/Linux-based live CD (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Live_cd for live CD info), like System Rescue CD (http://sysresccd.org/), except it will be made entirely of free software. The CD will be intended to be used for tasks that cannot be done from an operating system installed on a harddisk, such as partitioning, and a small platform for repairing broken things on a hard drive, such as a misconfigured bootloader.

The only planned graphical program is QTParted (http://qtparted.sourceforge.net/) running on top of Qt Embedded (http://www.trolltech.com/products/qt3/embedded/) GNU GPL version. There will be no graphical system otherwise.

I will make my own version of grubconfig (http://www.tux.org/pub/people/kent-robotti/looplinux/) for the CD. It has an unusual license, that might have some legal issues. The license is:

Redistribution and use of this script, with or without modification, is permitted provided that the following conditions are met:

 1. Redistributions of this script must retain the above copyright notice, this list of conditions and the following disclaimer.

THIS SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED BY THE AUTHOR ``AS IS'' AND ANY EXPRESS OR IMPLIED WARRANTIES, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE ARE DISCLAIMED. IN NO EVENT SHALL THE AUTHOR BE LIABLE FOR ANY DIRECT, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES (INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, PROCUREMENT OF SUBSTITUTE GOODS OR SERVICES; LOSS OF USE, DATA, OR PROFITS; OR BUSINESS INTERRUPTION) HOWEVER CAUSED AND ON ANY THEORY OF LIABILITY, WHETHER IN CONTRACT, STRICT LIABILITY, OR TORT (INCLUDING NEGLIGENCE OR OTHERWISE) ARISING IN ANY WAY OUT OF THE USE OF THIS SOFTWARE, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGE.

So far, there is only a package list (using packages in Gentoo's portage), that is changing frequently, which can be found at http://www.nuxified.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=59

Other Software Required:
------------------------
  CD image burner

Other Comments:
---------------
If the site could be located at http://frcd.nongnu.org/ for a shorter URL that would be great.

The website will be in XHTML sent as text/html, since the CD could be used by Internet Explorer users that want to convert to GNU/Linux, but need a partitioner.
