Hello.

Mail from Dave Robillard <drobilla>:
| ...
| Slightly embarrassed I didn't think of this before, but I have
| changed the full name to "LASH Audio Session Handler".  There
| are
| no longer any references to Linux in the source tree, other
| than  in the term "GNU/Linux" (except in all the cruft
| generated by autotools)
|
| Updated tarball uploaded at the same location
| (http://www.scs.carleton.ca/~drobilla/files/)
| ...

Sorry again for the delay.

I have approved your project.  You will receive an automated e-mail containing detailed information about the approval.

Regards.

Hi,
I'm evaluating the project you submitted for approval in Savannah.

At first, the address of the FSF has changed, and is now:

51 Franklin Street, Fifth Floor, Boston, MA  02110-1301  USA

Please update your license notices.

Updates versions of the GPL, LGPL and GFDL can also be found at:
http://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl.txt
http://www.gnu.org/licenses/lgpl.txt
http://www.gnu.org/licenses/fdl.txt

Please update the copy of the license (usually, the 'COPYING' file) in your package as well.

You can find some background and a possible migration script at https://savannah.gnu.org/forum/forum.php?forum_id=3766

At second, can we find a compromise?
System group name: lash
Full name: GNU/Linux Audio Session Handler

Because you are right, "Linux" is just a kernel of a more complex system that we like to refer to as GNU/Linux, to emphasize the ideals of the Free Software movement.

For more information, see also http://www.gnu.org/gnu/linux-and-gnu.html.

So we don't prefer to name a project "Linux" without the explicite reference to the kernel, not to the operating system.

Regards,

Type:
-----

License:

Description:
------------
  Linux Audio Session Handler (LASH)

This is a daemon, a client library and a some clients that implement a session management system for audio applications on GNU/Linux.  It is the implementation of a proposal resulting from a discussion on the linux-audio-dev mailing list.

About the name:  I personally have issues with the "Linux Audio Developers" name, but that is unfortunately the name of said community and isn't going to change.  The name LASH comes from the common "LAD" prefix (as in LADSPA, see http://ladspa.org) and the fact that its purpose is to "lash together" many audio programs that work together.  The name was voted on by the community, and is not in my power to change.  All references to the operating system contained in the code and documentation are correctly "GNU/Linux", however.

I hope Savannah will not reject this project simply on the basis of the name (GLASH clearly doesn't work), but I can understand if that is the case.

This code was originally created by Bob Ham; I have taken over as maintainer with his blessing.

I am the author of an existing Savannah project which will soon depend on this one, om-synth
