Hello,

I've added the (c) symbol to the python files - I think that means the code is o.k.

I'd like to proceed with the programs and I will upload the documentation later along with EPS sources.  This is easier as I only have to upload once.  Also I will probably have to redo some figures which will take a bit of time.  I think some of the figures were from a Microsoft Excel format which of course won't do.

Thank for your help,

Regards,

Grant.

Hi,

I am waiting for an answer from you.

If within one week I still do not get a reply, I will remove your project. You will still be able to register it again once you have the time to deal with the registration issues.

Are you still willing to host your project at Savannah? If not, please tell us - we don't bite, and it will make us gain time.

Regards.

[Taking over this submission, while Vivek is away]

Hello,

Sorry for the delay.

The goal of the evaluation is to determine whether your project complies with the Savannah policies, which includes, among others:
- compliance with the kind of projects we host
- being free, w/o non-free dependencies; by extension, we check the availability of the sources
- carrying appropriate copyright and license notices

If something is wrong, we tell it asap, most often as the first contact. We didn't say so, because your project type is perfectly valid for Savannah.

However, before to import your files at Savannah, we require that they have up-to-date copyright and licence notices, and we also need that all files come with their sources.

That why we asked those.

If it is too long to find the EPS sources, we can accept that you only upload the source without the documentation in a first step.

Any question :) ?

Hello,

Thanks for the reminder.  I've uploaded the source code for the documentation, I will also make the copyright notice changes at some point soon.  The figures are in eps format and at some point I will also dig out the original files (where I still have them) and put them on the download pages.

However a more substantial issue is whether or not this is the sort of project that you want to host?  I don't want to spend ages on licensing details only to be told that savannah is not interested in such a specalised piece of work.

Cheers,

Grant.

Hi,

I did visit your project URL http://www.staff.ncl.ac.uk/grant.ingram/download.html

Please include the source code of the PDF documentation. It should be present in the distribution.

I also suggest adding the " (c) " symbol for copyright notices.

Regards,

Hello,

I've made the requested changes and they are available at:
http://www.staff.ncl.ac.uk/grant.ingram/download.html

I've put a note the data files to put them in the public domain - if that isn't sufficient let me know.  The mechanical engineering data files are just example data for the program to illustrate the file format and program operation.  I'm not really sure they contain any copyrightable information - still it's done just to be on the safe side.

Cheers,

Grant.

Incidently the URL for the "project tracker" gives me an error saying that the project isn't active yet.

Hi,

I am evaluating your project for inclusion in the savannah.

I did visit your project URL,
http://www.staff.ncl.ac.uk/grant.ingram/download.html

I noticed that the 2 mechanical engineering data files namely calib.pa and data.pa in your project does not have copyright and GPL notices assigned. We have a policy that states that every non-trivial file should have copyright and license notices assigned. By non trivial we mean any file that exceeds 10 lines be it source code or documentation.

I also noticed many of your project files lacking proper copyright notices though they contain GNU GPL notices.

In order to release your project properly and unambiguously under the GPL, please place copyright notices and permission-to-copy statements at the beginning of every file of source code.

In addition, if you haven't already, please include a copy of the plain text version of the GPL, available from http://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl.txt, into a file named "COPYING".

For more information, see http://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl-howto.html.

The GPL FAQ explains why these procedures must be followed. To learn why a copy of the GPL must be included with every copy of the code, for example, see http://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl-faq.html#WhyMustIInclude.

Please assign proper copyright and license notices to your project files using your project tracker located at https://savannah.gnu.org/admin/groupedit.php?group_id=7566 and inform us of the changes you have made. We will then review your project for inclusion in the Savannah.

Regards.

Description:
------------
This project consists of a number of Python scripts that manipulate data from a flow measurement system.

The code is mainly going to be of interest to those working in fluids measurement.  The code enables people who have a pressure probe measurement system to convert the raw pressure data from their system into flow variables - velocities, flow angles etc.

The full code along with a manual can be found at: http://www.staff.ncl.ac.uk/grant.ingram/download.html

The code is GPL and the license GFDL if I recall correctly.

The project is complete at the momement, but I indend to extend the software to use different algorithims to solve the problem.

Other Software Required:
------------------------
The program requires Python and if the plotting facilities are used it requires biggles and GNU plotutils.

Biggles: http://biggles.sourceforge.net/
GNU plotutils: http://www.gnu.org/software/plotutils/

The plotting facilities are not essential to the operation of the program.
