Okay, it's done, see: http://www.xs4all.nl/~pa4tu/antennavis/antennavis-0.2.tar.gz

I still haven't updated the version number, want to wait with that until the package is 100% okay. I am also thinking about adding autoconf and automake stuff before going public with this.

Let me know what you think of this...

Regards,
Joop

Hi,

Yes, you can create a file called 'README' under the Models/ directory
and there put the a little text saying what files are under the
copyright and license notice below, this it's a very good
solution. Related to the name of the file, I suggest you create a file
called 'LICENSE-NEC.FILES' with this name everyone that list the files
under the directory will know that the license for all the nec files.

On the other hand, you have the license notice missing in the
'Makefile' file, consider to fix this.

If you are willing to make the changes mentioned above, please provide
us with an URL to an updated tarball of your project.  Upon review, we
will reconsider your project for inclusion in Savannah.

Regards.

Thanks for the review. The fixed version is at:
http://www.xs4all.nl/~pa4tu/antennavis/antennavis-0.2.tar.gz

I can't really add a license notice to files in the Models directory. The program that reads these files (nec2) does not allow large comment fields. However, I have added a copyright notice of one line at the top, hope that's okay.

How do I indicate that the Models are GPL'ed? Is it okay if I put a notice in the README?

Thanks,
Joop

Hi,

You have the copyright notice missing in all your files, consider to
fix this. Keep in mind that any file with more than ten lines longs
should carry on a copyright and license notice, this rules include
Makefiles, image, sh files, example files, etc.

You have a lot of files under Models, that can be licensed, you will
license these files under the GNU GPL?

To avoid confusions about how to apply a proper copyright and license
notice consider to read these URLs:

    http://www.gnu.org/prep/maintain/html_node/Copyright-Notices.html
    http://www.gnu.org/prep/maintain/html_node/License-Notices.html

If you are willing to make the changes mentioned above, please provide
us with an URL to an updated tarball of your project.  Upon review, we
will reconsider your project for inclusion in Savannah.

Hi,

I'm evaluating the project you submitted for approval in Savannah.

Can you provide us with an URL to download your tarball? or if you
prefer you can upload it to this tracker.

We wish to review your source code, even if it is not functional, to
catch potential legal issues early.

For example, to release your program properly under the GPL you must
include a copyright notice and permission-to-copy statements at the
beginning of every file of source code.  This is explained in
http://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl-howto.html.  Our review would help
catch potential omissions such as these.

Description:

I would like to request project space for antennavis. Antennavis is a visualization toolkit designed to aid the user in better understanding the data output by the NEC2 antenna modelling software. The original project URL is at: http://n5xu.ae.utexas.edu/antennavis. The license is GPL and included with the source code is part of the togl library, a Tk widget for OpenGL rendering: http://togl.sourceforge.net. Togl has an MIT-like license, see the short thread at debian-legal: http://lists.debian.org/debian-legal/2005/03/msg00471.html.

I have put some effort in creating a useable debian package and have arrived at a stage where I have made so many source code changes that a new version would be justified. The original project has been dead since february 2000 and I have talked to the author about further development of antennavis on a project page at savannah. Here is his reply:
------------------------------------------------------------------
Antennavis was really just a two or three week project for one of my
grad school classes.  We needed to demonstrate data visualization through computer graphics.  We weren't really aiming for anything especially complex, and it only ever ran on SGI IRIX.

If you would like to put it on sourceforge or wherever, that's fine with me.

Antennavis would benefit from a project page at savannah which would help development. This would encourage other people to join in
and add features or fix/report bugs....
