You need to configure your FTP program to use the proxy. Squid support FTP (if activated). You should talk to your system adminstrator about it. There is also a program called 'proxify' (I think) to use use a normal application in a proxied environment.

I access the internet through a squid proxy caching server. the problem is that i am unable to use anonymous ftp, as i havent been given a nameserver, and so get an 'unknown host' error on trying to use ftp. how can i upload files to my project?
