You are right, the information wasn't "confidential"; but I wasn't supposed to publish it nonetheless, and the guy who runs the system was annoyed because of it. That's why I'd like to get that mistake corrected as far as possible. Not because it would save the world in any way, but just because I am sorry about it. I understand the rationale for your policy and am greatly in favor of it. Since the information is really not that important though -- like you said --, I feel it wouldn't be a big deal to do me the favor and to remove the part which contains the directory listings. If you could replace it by

[data removed per request of the posting's author]

or something like that, you'd do me a great favor.

Our policy is to avoid editing the archives. What was made public stays public. Besides, the information doesn't look like especially confidential.

Hi,

a while ago I posted a bug report to the monotone project which contained some debug information. The article is here:

http://lists.nongnu.org/archive/html/monotone-devel/2004-04/msg00072.html

Now my problem is this: This article accidently revealed some details about the DNS configuration of the server I was running the software on, and one of our admins has asked me to try and remedy this somehow. Since I can't, I've asked Graydon, the project owner, but apparently he can't do that either.

So I'm wondering: Could someone do me a favor and either (a) delete that posting altogether or (b) edit out the part of the text that follows after the line »And this is, what the directory looks like with "ls -Ra":«?

I'm really sorry about the inconvenience, but you'd do me a huge favor. I'm aware GMANE and other archives still carry the posting including this private information, of course, but I figured I'd have to start somewhere. Undoing a posting to a public mailing list is harder than I thought. :-(
