Before posting this I have taken a good look 1,000 of times. I do not  see anyway to add any  own headlines using an admin account. May someone please post exact steps? Clicked hooks  thing  but it only  shows  nntp that is all nothing in word mentions of headlines. The generic ones work that come by default but no way to add please!

I think thi can be closed now...

The "Find and Register all Application Hooks" was supposed
to allow the system to know which hooks were available.

Thanks,

I've just found "Find and Register all Application Hooks" in
Administration for admin account.  This produces the link we
need further down the page.  Doh!

I just rechecked this.  It doesn't work from a user account
but in the admin account...

- Start the headlines app
- edit url replacing "index" with "admin"
- this gives the admin page with a list of sources.

The link at the bottom to "grab news sites" seems to work ok
but I ended up with "Linux Today" twice in the list.  This
may have been cos I had used this one but I haven't explored
this.

The add button lets you add your own source.  To see what is
expected for the fields then look at one of the existing
sources.  Beware cos "view" seems to get the wrong database
fields, "edit" looks fine.  Again I haven't explored this.

Thanks for the info George.  I found what you pointed me to,
but none of it seemed to work right.  It would say link
unavailable and/or show no news data.  Have you got the
thing working correctly for yourself?  If so, any tips you
could give me would be most appreciated.

I had same problem but found admin.php.  I just edited the
url in my browser from "index" to "admin" and found the
facility.

Looks like someone forgot a link, or hasn't got round to it yet.

I have two requests for this catagory.  For one,
please add in the ability for admins to easily add
more headline sources.  Maybe just make that an admin
feature, so that we can easily add and remove news
sites as user demend changes.  While I do read the
tech news sources that are listed, I'm sure normal
users would like to have CNN, etc.

Second, I think it would be excellent if you could
have the user selected headlines displayed on the main
page like email, stocks. etc.

If there's some documentation on configuring this,
point me to it and I'll set it up myself.  But I
searched and came up empty.

Thanks in advance.
