I think I tried to do this once and found out that it was difficult -- like, source highlight exposes some Boost-specific things somewhere... I think in the check_regexp command.

Maybe we could remove check_regexp?  It doesn't really seem all that important to me.

Actually, maybe the problem is that the highlighters themselves can rely on boost regexp features.  That would take some investigation.

I would love to see patches for this though.
