Corresponding source code
A list of file extensions is maintained in http://git.savannah.gnu.org/cgit/coreutils.git/tree/src/dircolors.hin. They are organized into groups and rendered in different colors by ls. There is a group for "# archives or compressed (bright red)" that includes .tar, .gz, .zip, and others. I think of .iso files as archives analogous to the formats listed in this section. Therefore, perhaps .iso should be added to the list so that it is colored consistently with similar container formats.
