Hello! I have been noticing this problem with self-built coreutils-8.{26,30} and with Debian's 8.26-3 packaged version. Broken symlinks are being colorized like valid ones by `ls --color` (i.e.: they're shown in cyan rather than red-on-black).

False alarm, sorry! It was due to the LS_COLORS variable not being set and exported.
