Problem is embedded yt videos point to e.g.

http://www.youtube.com/v/DUzHLsh7_aI?version=3

'?version=3' explicitly requires version 3 (AS3) yt player which gnash can't play, lightspark is supposed to do it.

You might request to site admins to remove version=3 param to make gnash able to play it.

is the tag handled by phpbb ? in that case you should check with phpbb about having the option to request the AVM1 player of youtube, rather than the AVM2 player.

Youtube main website has some javascript which decides, based on user SWF player, which version of the movie player to distribute. Maybe such script isn't run by embedding.

Feel free to dig in phpbb sourcecode yourself and report the snippets you find here, in case we can help :)

oh, heh, sorry... perhaps i was a bit embarrassed about it, but
http://hikiculture.net/topic4-3175.html
is an example.

... although after creating this bug, it occurred to me: perhaps it's better to close this and file one with the debian maintainer instead?

so there's some software called phpbb for hosting bulletin boards,
and you're supposed to be able to embed youtube videos in posts using the appropriate tags, but it doesn't work with gnash.

i have the latest binary for debian squeeze, and although i set the debug path and the write flag in the rc file, nothing's been written.
