running tar (GNU tar) 1.13.25

Attempts to backup to a remote host via -f host:file fail when rsh is a symbolic link.  Example is rsh as a symbolic link to ssh.  Execution fails in this case, stating, "Can not execute remote shell".  However, if rsh is a hardlink instead of a symlink, works fine.
