The Romanian translation team is active again!

Item posted by Tiberiu C. Turbureanu <tct> on Fri 27 Jul 2012 07:02:24 AM UTC.

After a 2-year absence, the Romanian translation team is active again under the new leadership of Tiberiu C. Turbureanu, founder of Ceata - the Romanian Free Software Activist organization.

Romanian is a Romance language spoken by 24 million people, primarily in Romania and Republic of Moldova, Eastern Europe. It is similar to other more spoken Romance languages like Spanish, Portuguese, French and Italian.

Romania is reported to be the country with the highest number of computer programmers in Europe. This is why many well-known software companies opened development centers in Romania in the last decade.

We do hope that by translating the gnu.org pages, Romanian programmers will come to better understand the Free Software philosophy. We hope more of them will stop restricting and controlling their users and join the Free Software movement.

Also, we hope that Romanian users will more easily become aware of their freedoms and act accordingly, rejecting proprietary software and requesting only Free Software.
