I just found that this problem was due to the PHP accelerator (eaccelerator). Great! There's a few hours gone figuring out why it wasn't working.

To reproduce the bug:

1) Make a few usernames containing periods (e.g. "wk.woon").
2) Assign these users to a group.
3) Login as any one of them, and grant permissions for Infolog for that group.
4) Login as another user, and try accessing the permission granting page. It goes into an infinite loop.

This doesn't happen when the users don't have .s in their username.
