When files are being deleted while nano is showing a list of files in the file browser, and the pointer is at the end of the list, then doing a <Left> or <Up> will make the pointer disappear.  (A few more <Left>s or <Up>s will restore it, of course, but it shouldn't disappear at all.)

To reproduce: do 'touch xxx yyy', then start 'src/nano' and type  ^R  ^T  <End>.  See that xxx and yy are being listed.  Now, in another terminal, do 'rm xxx yyy', and then in the file browser do <Left>.  The xxx and yyy are gone, and the cursor has disappeared too -- it wanted to go sit on xxx, which is no longer there.
