I have seen no new reports of freezes in Firefox, and in any event have not been able to reproduce any since the original bugfix. So possibly this bug is fixed, but certainly it shouldn't hold anything up.

Hicham, I am not sure that every bug you posted here is a Firefox freeze, particularly, if the user doesn't report a frozen browser, . I expect there can be different bugs leading to the same X error backtrace.

The plugin freeze now should be fixed. The other issues (which only occur when Firefox freezes) are not.

Well, this is a pretty amazing steaming pile of crap.

Bugs (not in order of embarassment):

1. The plugin performs a blocking read on the "control" file descriptor. When something unexpected happens and the data doesn't arrive as expected, the plugin blocks, resulting in Firefox's main thread freezing. (plugin.cpp)

2. BOTH plugin.cpp and pluginScriptObject.cpp are monitoring the "control" file descriptor, and they will both attempt to read from it and pluginScriptObject will even write to it! Communication will be difficult when the recipient keeps changing. Worse yet, the plugin is sending messages to itself.

3. When the user gets fed up with item 1 and kills the browser, the Gnash process receives a BadWindow. I'm not sure if this is a bug in X, GTK, Firefox or Gnash.

Original bug report is at : https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=680556.

How to reproduce :

1. Open Firefox 3.6.13 (can't reproduce with either Chromium or Firefox 4)
2. Visit http://rutracker.org/forum/index.php
3. Reload a few times, until browser freezes
4. Force-quit the browser
