A PHP accelerator will not make much difference - they only cache the compiled PHP code. With an accelerator, the code is still executed every time the page is requested.  It is the execution which is slow (because it makes an HTTP request to a third-party server), not the compilation.

We can use PHP Accelerator.
It's open source and works quite well.

user-journal.php re-fetches the user's RSS feed every time it is called. This is somewhat wasteful. Would be great to implement HTTP caching.
