This has been added for upcoming coreutils-6.0:
From sort --help:

  -R, --random-sort           sort by random hash of keys

I am constatntly seeking a way to randomize a list of text strings, sort seems intuitave to me.  Please consider adding say a flag for returning strings in a random order.
