Hi Sebastian -- thanks for approving the project.

I'm not sure if we can upgrade the license.  It depends on Larry Wall's original terms.  I will discuss these copyright issues with Andreas.

Patch takes a patch file containing a difference listing produced by the diff program and applies those differences to one or more original files, producing patched versions.

I would like to set up a version control repository, mailing  list, and bug tracking here on Savannah, given that none of that currently exists (or at least not publicly).

There have been old plans to eventually merge patch with diffutils. At this point it is neither clear whether this should be done, nor when it would happen. Meanwhile, enough bug fixes and non-bug fix improvements have accumulated, and a new release with these things incorporated is overdue.
