I think you meant, how you should write copyright and license notices for images (originally copyright is held by the authors automatically, then copyright may be assigned or transferred to other people).

If the format of the file doesn't allow comments like those notices, you should add a README file in the same directory with those files; in that README file you should list the relevant files and explain what copyright and license notices apply to each of them.

Thanks Ineiev, it worked.

I have one more question:

How do I copyright an image (for example, application icon), and do I need to do that based on your hosting requirements?

You should enter the password of the SSH key you registered in your Savannah account; the private part of that key should be "visible" to your ssh client.

For SSH troubleshooting, please check https://savannah.gnu.org/maintenance/SshAccess/

I have tried scp chordsequencer-1.1.tar.xz chordsequencer-1.1.tar.xz.sig trailblazer@dl.sv.nongnu.org:/releases/chord-sequencer/sourse/ and then I am asked for password, I am entering my web site password and it says permission denied. Do you have different passwords?

Thanks,

Marvin

Thank you, approving.

Please don't forget to add copyright and license notices to files like NEWS when they become copyrightable---as well as to all new files, of course.

Hi Ineiev,

I was able to remove ABOUT-NLS file from distribution.

Peace,

Hi Ineiev,

I have emptied file saved_sequencex.txt, added copyright and licence info to files in po directory. Some files ended up being generated with a double licence info because of that.

Also, I was not able to get rid of ABOUT-NLS file. I is automatically generated and put in the file directory without any option to remove it on my part.

Peace,

Marvin

Hello, Marvin;

Have you really checked all files?

I see no notices in src/saved_sequences.txt, ABOUT-NLS,
as well as in some files in po/.

Thank you, Ineiev.

I have removed files rtmidi.pc, rtimidi.pc.in, rtimidi.config, and rtmidi.config.in. I think those are the last files from this package that lacked copyright and licence.

There are only two files left in the project, that came with rtmidi library, and they both have valid copyright and licences.

Peace,

Marvin

No. Even some GNU packages are not copyrighted by the FSF.

> You may find, that two files: rtmidi.pc and rtmidi.pc.in still do not have a licence and copyright, but those files came with the RtMidi library, I did not write them.

If you didn't write them, it means that their authors made it more difficult for you to use them in your package. A copyrightable file is technically undistributable until it has valid copyright and license notices. Therefore, it's your responsibility to figure out and add correct notices to those files when you put them in your package.

> Besides, they are both only 11 lines long.

rtmidi-config.in is longer; please also check other files in your tarball.

Hi Ineiev,

I have also found that file autogen.sh does not have a copyright and licence, so I removed it from the distribution too. The program still works without it.

Peace,

Marvin

Hi Ineiev,

I thought that assignment of copyright to FSF is a requirement for free licence. I am totally new to the this licence / copyright thing. Now I know better.

I have changed all copyright notices to myself.

You may find, that two files: rtmidi.pc and rtmidi.pc.in still do not have a licence and copyright, but those files came with the RtMidi library, I did not write them. Besides, they are both only 11 lines long.

Thank you for your time,

Peace,

Marvin

Please check again all files in your tarball; some of them still lack copyright and license notices.

Also, I can see that in files like src/customradiobutton.cpp you claim FSF's copyright. Have you assigned it the FSF? I don't find that in the records of the GNU project.

Hi Ineiev,

I have removed two files that did not have a copyright and licence information from distribution tarball. The program still works.

Marvin

Hi Ineiev,

I did not write the file rtmidi_c.cpp, it came with the RtMidi library. I can copy and paste the copyright and licence info from other RtMidi files, or skip this file from distribution, since it is probably not being used anyways.

Thank you,

Marvin

Hello Ineiev,

Thank you for your time. I added missing copyright and licence info to all files that I wrote and that have 10 or more lines.
Unfortunately, I found new bug: I cannot write to a localstate data files, because installed files have root as an owner.

Peace,

Marvin
