Tomasz -- It can't be recovered?  What is there to recover?  Just change the state back to "open"?

Hi, Tomasz,

Thanks for reconsidering.

I'll fix the files that lack the copyright headers and resubmit.

Thanks,

Neal

I'm totally sorry, it was mistake that I rejected your project. Please submit it again (it can't be recovered) and after little fixes it will be accepted. You need to put copyright headers in all non-derived files with more than 10 lines like configure.ac or makefile.am. Otherwise your project looks fine.

Sorry,
Tomasz

Hi, Tomasz,

Thanks for the prompt reply!

I would appreciate it if you would reconsider your rejection of my application.

As I explained in my submission, ICD2 is not a hard requirement: Network Manager is also supported, which is free software.  ICD2 is a system service provided by Maemo, which provides a similar service to Network Manager.  I don't think anyone has suggested that we kick coreutils out of GNU because it runs on Solaris and uses Solaris' libc instead of glibc.  Similarly, Woodchuck supports Maemo in addition to Debian GNU/Linux.

Thanks,

Neal

Hi Neal!

I'm sorry but I must reject your project. You have stated that Woodchuck depends on ICD2 which is not free software. We only accept projects which depends only on 100% free software, see http://savannah.gnu.org/register/requirements.php

Registration Administration

While this item will be useful to track the registration process, approving or discarding the registration must be done using the specific Group Administration page, accessible only to site administrators, effectively logged as site administrators (superuser):

Registration Details

  • Name: Woodchuck
  • System Name:  woodchuck
  • Type: non-GNU software & documentation
  • License: GNU General Public License v3 or later (The Woodchuck server, Murmeltier, is GPLv3+.  The C library and Python modules are GPLv2+.)

Description:

Woodchuck is a scheduler for network transmissions.  Applications register pending network transmissions with the Woodchuck server.  When Woodchuck detects good conditions, e.g., power and WiFi availability, it may start the application and send it upcalls indicating that it should now execute some network transfer.

Other Software Required:

glib LGPLv2+ http://git.gnome.org/browse/glib
libdbus-glib + Academic Free License version 2.1 / GPLv2 + http://gitweb.freedesktop.org/?p=dbus/dbus-glib.git
sqlite3 + public domain + http://sqlite.org/
Network Manager + GPLv2 + http://projects.gnome.org/NetworkManager/?x=22

Re: My project runs primarily on a completely free OS
==================================================

Currently Woodchuck run primarily on Maemo, which is not completely free.  However, good support is provided for Debian GNU/Linux when using Network Manager.  Full support for Debian GNU/Linux-based systems is planned.

Dependencies
============

Either Network Manager or Maemo's ICD2 is required, not both.  Although ICD2 is a dependency, it is only used via IPC mechanism.  Moreover, I think ICD2 can be considered an essential system component consistent with http://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl-faq.html#GPLIncompatibleLibs
