Let's conclude it was a false alarm.

Laurent: I can commit to my test repository alright.
I don't understand how the system could temporarily turn to read-only after relocated on a different computer entirely, and right now it's read-write. Jonathan, did you do anything during the day?

Problem is not fixed.
Still the error message
Error: The server reported an error: Read-only file system
Error: dolibarr: can't create temporary directory /tmp/cvs-serv16194

For example on project "dolibarr".

Hi,

This issue it's related to a failed migration to the new savannnah hardware, we had some issues that need to be solved first.

Everything should work fine by now.

For more information related to this please read the savannah-users mailing list following this url:

http://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/savannah-users/2009-10/threads.html

same problem for pushing into a git repository

"error: unable to create temporary sha1 filename ./objects/d9/tmp_obj_cByBQY: Read-only file system"

Thanks

We cannot check out or update from the 'emacs' repository at (for example) :ext:kfogel@cvs.savannah.gnu.org:/sources/emacs, because of this error:

  $ cvs up -dP
  can't create temporary directory /tmp/cvs-serv23644
  Read-only file system
  $

Multiple developers are experiencing this problem, which suggests that it is a server-side issue (specifically, that /tmp is mounted read-only for some reason on the CVS server).  See

  http://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/emacs-devel/2009-10/msg00474.html

for another developer who reports this.

Thank you,
-Karl
