I downloaded tar 1.28 and am attempting to compile a static binary for system recovery media. I just don't want to have to include any more share libraries on the media than necessary, so want to get selinux, acl, attr, pcre and lzma built into the binary.

The README indicates I can use
    ./configure CC=gcc LDFLAGS=-static
but this creates a static binary without support for anything normally found in the shared libraries (SELinux, ACLs, etc).

So, I installed libselinux-devel-static RPM, and this got the selinux support in there, but I can't find static libraries for anything else. Lots of search results say that libacl.a can be found in libacl-devel, but I have it and it's nowhere to be found.
