To reproduce, run 'src/nano --ignore THANKS'. Then, in a different terminal, do 'kill -SIGSTOP $(pidof nano)'. Go back to the first terminal and type: fg <Enter>. See that nano does not properly resume because the shell prompt and the echoed command stay on screen. (Type ^X ^M to get out.)
