Thanks both for looking into it.

I can only reproduce this on Gnome/Wayland. It doesn't happen on Gnome/Xorg or XFCE/Xorg. On Xorg I also don't get the warnings that "The cached device pixel ratio value was stale on window update."

Potentially related Qt bugs:
https://bugreports.qt.io/browse/QTBUG-117762
https://bugreports.qt.io/browse/QTBUG-128522

I have Qt 5.15.15 and 6.8.1 installed.

My graphics card:
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation TigerLake-LP GT2 [Iris Xe Graphics] (rev 01)
        Subsystem: Microsoft Corporation Device 0050
        Kernel driver in use: i915
        Kernel modules: i915, xe

Hello Jeroen,

I'm unable to reproduce the problem on a clean Fedora 41. Can I have more information about the system:

 - Which desktop environment do you use? KDE? Gnome? XFCE?
 - Do you use Xorg, Wayland, or another display server?
 - Do you have any other version of Qt installed on your machine?
 - Do you have an integrated graphics card and/or a dedicated graphics card? Do you use the "nouveau" driver ?

This problem seems to be related to bug #66720, I can only reproduce this with two displays with different scaling.

Steps to reproduce from a clean TEXMACS_HOME_PATH:
0) Set different scaling factors on displays
1) start TeXmacs and close the welcome document
2) in the new empty document set "papyrus" page mode
3) exit TeXmacs, discarding changes
(at this point .TeXmacs/system/preferences.scm should contain ("page medium" "papyrus"))
4) start TeXmacs
5) resize the window
6) exit TeXmacs
7) start TeXmacs

I can reproduce in the latest AppImage, however not with a clean TEXMACS_HOME_PATH. I haven't been able to isolate yet what causes the problem in my usual TEXMACS_HOME_PATH.

I don't have this issue when using Gnome+Wayland of Ubuntu 24.04.1 LTS.
Could you please make sure that your OS is up-to-date, and then
test again with the latest AppImage
https://ftp.texmacs.org/TeXmacs/dev/nightly/20250130/TeXmacs.AppImage
?

If the problem persists, then please run the command 'lsb_release -a' in a terminal and send us the output.

Often parts of the document are not properly displayed. Instead grey areas are visible (see attached screenshot).
