This appears to be the same issue as in the CopyQ bug report.

In a comment 'hluk' notes that "opening the combo list somehow breaks clipboard access ... unless the window is deactivated and activated again".

https://github.com/hluk/CopyQ/issues/1243#issuecomment-549040797

This is also what I'm seeing in TeXmacs/GNOME/Wayland.

If I paste using the Scheme command "(clipboard-paste-import "html" "primary")" then pasting does work. But for some reason copy/paste breaks when I do the same action using the menus "Edit->Paste from->Html" (or any other format in that menu).

Thanks a lot, Philippe! The latter ('texmacs -platform xcb') seems to work.

You have guessed correctly that for internal clipboard operations texmacs actually implements its own internal clipboard; it does not need/use the system's clipboard (that enables to have mouse selection working even on platforms that do not support it). The issue is really with the system's clipboard, which is handled through qt.

In http://forum.texmacs.cn/t/copy-paste-under-wayland/1855/8 it was suggested to use

texmacs -platform wayland

Otherwise, other apps that have issues with the Gnome/Wayland combo suggest (see e.g. https://github.com/hluk/CopyQ/issues/1243#issuecomment-2384818487) to force

texmacs -platform xcb

Would either do the trick?

There appears to be a near-complete disconnect between the Wayland clipboard (on Gnome) and TeXmacs. It is as if there are two clipboards, one for Gnome/Wayland and one for TeXmacs.

When copying text in TeXmacs, the Wayland clipboard is emptied, but nothing is inserted. However, while the text can't be pasted in another application, it can still be pasted back into TeXmacs.

Copying in another application changes the Wayland clipboard, but this can't be pasted into TeXmacs. Whatever text that was copied earlier in TeXmacs is still being pasted.

There is no problem on Sway, however, also on Wayland.

This happens in all AppImages from https://www.texmacs.org/builds/, as well as latest SVN built locally.

It doesn't happen with the 2.1.4 AppImage from https://www.texmacs.org/tmweb/download/linux.en.html

This is in GNOME on Wayland. Oddly enough it does work on GNOME/Xorg and on Sway/Wayland.

Do you use Wayland or Xorg?

Pasting text in different formats (verbatim, html, latex) does nothing. Once a paste from a non-default format is attempted any pasting fails, including Ctrl-V. Pasting is again possible if focus is switched to another window and back to TeXmacs.

This is on Linux in the latest AppImage from texmacs.org.
