I'm not sure if it's Gnash's purpose to be a windowing system. As mentioned, everyone I know using Gnash in a framebuffer runs it fullscreen, as it's usually a UI of some kind. So while maybe it's cool to pop up Gnash where ever you want I'm not sure if it's truly useful for anyone else. Still, I am looking at refactoring it if possible.

When I worked on that my use case was:
I'm working on something and want to see an animation/movie/whatever in the upper-right corner. Or in another corner, for that matter. Like a poor's man window system.

This code is being refactored to work with libdevice and the newer double buffering code. I'm not entirely sure the exiting implementation was that useful in the real world, although rescaling the output window still makes minor sense. Usually when using a framebuffer, everything is full screen, and the SWF movie is scaled to fit the entire display anyway.

Not sure if this is a proper regression in that I'm not sure if the new support was already in last official release.

Anyway it looks like all the work I've done on FB gui between November 2010 and May 2011 about handling of -j/-k and -X/-Y got removed.

I see the code commented out in fb.cpp
