Two ways to reproduce the bug:

[1]
- Select 'Eyes' in the left menu
- Click on the left arrow on bottom-right
- BUG: the stage gets cleared

[2]
- Select 'Hair' in the left menu
- Select 'Long hair' tab on the right panel
- Click on the right arrow on bottom-right twice
- BUG: the stage gets cleared

Sounds like stage construction / timeline related
