I suspect this is an incarnation of bug #25835.

This file was authored by Udo Giacomozzi while implementing
the AGG backend. It is supposed to render the text over
a white background (as the text states).

AGG renders it fine, OGL fails (keeps the gray background)
and dumps a couple of errors:

ERROR: Cannot find the double-buffered visual. Trying single-buffered visual.
ERROR: OpenGL: stack underflow

The second error is printed twice
