GNU Stow 2.1.0 released
Item posted by Adam Spiers <aspiers> on Sat 03 Dec 2011 05:40:58 PM UTC.
I'm very happy to announce that GNU Stow 2.1.0 is now available for download from ftp.gnu.org and also from the mirrors as soon as they catch up.
This is the first official release of Stow since January 2002, and the new version is a complete refresh of the entire codebase, with a substantial number bugfixes and enhancements.
Stow is a tool for managing the installation of multiple software packages to a shared run-time directory tree (e.g. /usr/local) via symlinks, whilst keeping the files from each package separate. Whilst traditionally it has often been used to manage system-wide software installations, it also provides a clean mechanism for managing software and configuration files in users' home directories. More information is available at the homepage.
Many thanks to Kahlil (Kal) Hodgson for his excellent work on the rewrite between 1.3.3 and 2.0.1.
See the NEWS file for a summary of the changes since 1.3.3.
