"-isocoma" seems to be right, also for XP: After having turned off the sound effects, I haven't had any crashes, too. (WinXP)

Turning off sound effects seems to help (Win2K).

It works great now !

I've been following this bug for a while and have found yet-another way to make it happen. As previously stated it really seems gui-event related.

My new trigger involves starting a new game while the game is autorolling and you are stuck on the bar. You get the confirm dilog and then the crash.

Another case of this bug is available here:

Is the first one i know from our Team.

I am running 0.14-devel and see the same bug, first with
the dialog that repeats "x can not move" twice (when i failed to enter from the bar), then after clicking ok i get "Assertion failed" in play.c line 1801.
After clicking ignore, gnu played on automatically for a
while (while i danced), then crashed completely.

Seeing this bug fairly often.  I get "Assertion failed!"  File:play.c line:1801  Expression !fComputing. Usually crashes after ignore.  this time it continued for a few rolls and crashed.  more info link came back with "Error signature AppName: gnubg.exe  AppVer:0.0.0.0 ModName:gnubg.exe ModVer: 0.0.0.0 Offset:000936ae

I should have added that the bug manifests itself as an assertion error when I experience it.

I have experienced this bug every time Human player cannot make a legal move, it does not matter if there are counters on the bar or not. OS is XP Profesional(sp2) on a Dell Inspiron 1000 laptop.

I don't know if this is any help, but I can continue the game by clicking "Ignore" in the pop-up window that reports the error. I got the message twice, and chose "Ignore", and GNU continued to roll and move. However, when I rolled a roll I could enter from bar with, I couldn't move, and the program crashed altogether.

Yes, I have noticed! The stange thing is that it doesn't append every time I dance from the bar. As I said in an earlier posting here the crash comes from a assertion in line 1793 of play.c. I've tried to track this bug in the debugger, but then I can't recreate the bug.

Hi,
i have the same error. gnubg crashes if one piece is on the bar and all fields are blocked. thus user cannot move.
on any occasion a user rolls and cannot move the game crashes.

Wow!

This bug just happend to me, as well! I haven't seen it before. I'll try to run it trought the debugger the next time it appear.

Jørn: There was a asertion error in line 1793 of play.c that crashed the program. Does that piece of information say anything to you?

Ok, I uninstalled the game completely....

Re-installed from fresh, downloaded the suggested files by the installer, then installed the 040802 update, then played with the normal 'supremo' and tutorial on settings.

Game STILL crashes with the same bug!!!!

This spoils what is otherwise a very good game. :(

Is this bug EVER likely to be fixed?

As things stand the game is almost unplayable due to the inevitability of the crash!

I'm amazed nobody else seems to have noticed this?

Is anyone else affected by it or is it just me?

Hi,

The bug is still in the 19 July build btw.

The new GUI is very nice though :)

Attached is the file you wanted.

Can you mail us your settings file? Either mail it to this bugtracker or to the mailing list -email is unavailable-

The settings file should be in your installation directory and is called .gnubgautorc

Bug is still in 040711 build.

This time the crash is with 4/3 showing.

Need any more examples, or is this sufficient?

I thought the bug had been fixed with the 040710 build but it's still there. :-(

This time the dice are 5/5

Nope, here's yet another one with 5/1.

This bug is now getting VERY annoying.

Hmmm, dice are 6/3 each time (!). Possible indicator.

Will play until next crash again and see if a 3rd one is aresult of a 6/3 throw.

Ok, here is an attached screenshot of a 'typical' pre-crash scenario.

Dice have been rolled on my turn, I have 3 counters on the bar and no possible moves. Dialogue box pops up, click ok, then program just exits!
Position is:
27VRAALveQAAcA,8In5ACAAMAAA
Computer is supremo/world-class

HTH?

At lots of different points in the game a dialogue box pops up saying:
Player cannot move
Player cannot move
On clicking 'OK' the game exits without saving!
