This Bug is fixed with Release 1.08.97 (i think so ;-) )
I tested this on a Linux-system with 6 displays with the commandline-tool cnee.
Cnee works very well over all displays.
I used this:
cnee --record --mouse --keyboard --display xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:0.0 -o test.cnr

The result:
Cnee works very well over all displays.
With this call of cnee i can record over all displays. Don't need another call of cnee to record on other displays like 0.0.

Here is the replay call:

cnee --replay -f test.cnr --display xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:0.0

The replaying works over all displays, if you recorded events on all displays.
Thats a very nice function of cnee :-)

I tested cnee for a long while, its nice to test it :-)
I think (i hope so), i found out the reason of the problem.
Cnee replays only mousebutton-press and not a realy mouseclick.
That means there is an mousemove to x,y, then comes a mousebuttonpress-event and after that a next mousemove.
I tested this by hand on my targetsystem. The result is the same.
Maybe, that the button-presstime is to long, so the mwm identificates the mouse-button-events not as a click.
The same problem could be while key-events.

I switched my xserver on my xnee-system to twm (after that also to mwm).
The result is, that cnee can replay mouseclicks too :-)
This is a little bit instable, because some mouseclicks are ignored.
May be, that mousebutton release is sometimes ignored.
I can see this on an opened window while clicking on his frame. The frame is down for a few seconds like press the left mousebutton and not release it until the next mousemove.
I attache again the last recorded file (this was created while recording under mwm on my cnee-system)

ups, i forgot to login here again

I tryed
"cnee --record --all-events --display xx.xx.xx.xx:0 --events-to-record 1000 -o test_display_1.cnr" and i got the same effect -> mousemove is ok, mouseclick is ignored.
The new recordfile i had attached.
On my xnee /cnee -system of course i can change my xserver to twm. In time i use kde 3.x.
May be , there are some problems with kde, i don't know.
On target system i can't change the xserver to twm, because the system has to work with mwm.

Thanks for your very quickly help.
Thats funny :-))

6 screens, wow ;)

Your command: cnee --record --all-events --display xx.xx.xx.xx:0.1 --events-to-record 1000 -o test_display_1.cnr

You should then record display 0 and screen 1 (0.1). But I see that motion events in screen 0 and 1 are recorded. Strange!

Can you try this instead:
   cnee --record --all-events --display xx.xx.xx.xx:0 --events-to-record 1000 -o test_display_1.cnr
(Note that the display argument has changed)

Xnee does not have to contact mwm. Neither mwm or Xnee cares about each other. Xnee fakes a user by faking device events so that applications, including mwm, thinks they were generated by an ordinary user. mwm simply handles the windows placement etc. Can you try to change the window manager to twm?

About gnee: I am busy updating libxnee and cnee after spling sessions. After that I will update gnee. Until then gnee isn't ready for anything :(

When I tested multiple screens using Xnest I only tested MotionEvents. I will start an xterm and do some "ls -l" in each xterm (on each screen). I'll be back!

The cnee command to record the added session-file was:

"> cnee --record --all-events --display xx.xx.xx.xx:0.1 --events-to-record 1000 -o test_display_1.cnr"

The replay call of cnee was:
"> cnee --replay -f test_display_1.cnr --display xx.xx.xx.xx:0.1 -ns"

PS:
gnee isn't ready for recording and replaying, isn't it?

No i don't use cygwin, thats right.
I use for recording and replaying a complete linux distribution. My xnee-system based on an "SuSE 9.0" (www.suse.de). The system to replay based on an "SuSE 7.0" with the mwm as the x-server.
My problem is, cnee has to contact the mwm. I can't change the xserver on target system.
My target system uses 6 screens (from :0.0 up to :0.5).
There is no problem to replay mousemoves on these screens.
Only mouseclicks and keypresses are out of function.
While recording and replaying on display :0.0 i got the same problems.
I used the --speed-percent 200 option while replaying (speed slowly) and i got the problem too.
I think, it is not a timeproblem because while recording i was setting up my mousebuttonpress-time to 1-2 seconds while testing cnee in another session.

You are not using Cygwin are you?

I have heard strange things happening when typing too fast.

Can you test if you have the same behaviuor using another WM?

Xnee does not switch focus. The focus switches the same way as when recorded?

Can you attach (here in this bug report) a session and a verbose printout file?

How many screens do you use?

If you record display ":0.0", do you get the same behaviour?

I testet the commandline-tool "cnee" from the pre-version "Xnee-1.08.94o".
This version is big step forward to the feature recording and replaying X11-Datas on any display (e.g. :0.1).
I can record any datas on any display and i think the datas in the record-file are correct.
Cnee can replay the datas from the recordfile to the display e.g. :0.1, but the mwm accepts only mousemoves to x,y.
Mouseclicks on the display are ignored by the mwm.
The same effect i got while replaying keypresses to an xterm on this display. Some keypresses also ignored by the mwm.
May be, there is a focus-problem while replaying, but i can't analyse that deeper.

Kind Regards
DiKa
