After about a year of discussion, procrastination, and a some actual work, the GNUComm design overview is up on the website.  Check it out at 
We are at v0.0.1, so there is a lot of speculative, naive, and otherwise unsafe assumptions that need to be weeded out, but I think the overall idea is pretty cool.
