Sun 08 Apr 2012 05:42:13 PM UTC, original submission:   I figured this out the hard way, then found it has already been reported before, <http://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/bug-tar/2008-08/msg00002.html>, then found that I'm not permitted to file a bug against tar on Savannah, thus came up with this bug report in form of a testsuite enhancement patch instead.  :-)	Thomas Schwinge <tschwinge>
