0.8.8 is pretty ancient. Can you still reproduce with gnash 0.8.10 ? And master ?

On Gnash release 0.8.8 and master, built from source on Ubuntu Lucid, Youtube will hang for some time, then finally open a video, play one or two frames and a few seconds of audio, and then sometimes display an alert box complaining about gstreamer.

The console output is as follows:

Running DIL (3.21.0) Version
DtsDeviceOpen: Opening HW in mode 0
Scaling command param 0x0,ctx_scal:0x0
ERROR: Couldn't find Method "onYouTubePlayerReady"
<string>Error</string>
ERROR: Couldn't find Method "reportFlashTiming"
<string>Error</string>
gtk-gnash: asobj/NetStream_as.cpp:670: std::auto_ptr<gnash::GnashImage> gnash::NetStream_as::decodeNextVideoFrame(): Assertion `! _videoDecoder->peek()' failed.

In Megavideo, the console output is similar, but it won't even begin playing the video:

Running DIL (3.21.0) Version
DtsDeviceOpen: Opening HW in mode 0
Scaling command param 0x0,ctx_scal:0x0
gtk-gnash: asobj/NetStream_as.cpp:670: std::auto_ptr<gnash::GnashImage> gnash::NetStream_as::decodeNextVideoFrame(): Assertion `! _videoDecoder->peek()' failed.

Vimeo and the basic flowplayer demo don't seem to render at all: http://flowplayer.org/demos/installation/index.html

This is using the latest development version of the crystalhd driver. With this driver disabled, Gnash still fails, but does so in a different way. With crystalhd turned on, the first one or two frames would be displayed, and then the whole UI would turn black, and the audio would cut off. Without the crystalhd driver, no frames are displayed (the video never plays), but the audio plays somewhat choppily the whole way through. Also, with crystalhd turned off, a popup window is now displayed consistently when attempting to load the video which says "VideoDecoderGst: initialisation failed", whereas with crystalhd turned on, I think this popup would only be displayed intermittently (I think it only happened once). Console output with crystalhd turned off is as follows:

ERROR: Too many attempts to read from the player!
DtsGetHWFeatures: Create File Failed
DtsGetHWFeatures: Create File Failed
Running DIL (3.21.0) Version
DtsDeviceOpen: Opening HW in mode 0
DtsDeviceOpen: Create File Failed

Megavideo manifests similar behaviour. Vimeo fails to render at all.
