STARRED (2024AJ....168...55M) is another more advanced solution (that also cites Firedec a lot in the paper).

Gnuastro's deconvolve program (not yet merged into the 'master' branch), currently only implements "infinite" resolution deconvolution algorithms (like Richardson-Lucy or Tikonov). The "infinite" resolution doesn't allow optimal usage of the output beyond identifying the centers.

There are better methods that can deconvolve an image to a known PSF (finite resolution deconvolution) to fix this problem. For example Firedec (see 2016A&A...589A..81C). We should add this (or similar) methods in Gnuastro's deconvolution also.
