In my experience using GNU Astro software, most commands produce a file with a past-tense verb describing the operation which was performed (e.g.: '_rotated.fits', '_warped.fits', '_aligned.fits').

Thanks for the great suggestion. I went through all the programs and indeed ImageCrop was the only program with this infinitive tense suffix. It was corrected and pushed to the main repo.
While I was going through the programs, I noticed that the automatic output suffix for the "Arithmetic" program was also not in a past tense. But since the "Arithmetic" program now has many more operators than the standard arithmetic operators, I have been growing uncomfortable with this name. As a result, I defined task #14317, so we can hopefully find a better name for this program which would also be a verb ;-)!
