Hi Dany - thanks, I understand better now.  Given your goals, it seems like it would be better to create a new project, so that the old one can remain frozen, and the two be clearly distinguishable.

As for git, you can enable it in any savannah project under 'select features' in the administration menu.

I approved the new project, the crons should do their stuff within an hour.  (Please do fix up the licensing per Joan's comments.)

Happy hacking!
Karl

Hi Karl,

There is no disagreement among the developpers, that's the good point, PHPCOMPTA has been used for 10 years despite the facts that the core team of PHP would like that PHP is not a part of the name of a project, so changing the name is also a mark of respect.

We've recently compared PHPCOMPTA to some well known accountancy/ERP softwares and we were really surprised by the result, so we think that PHPCOMPTA really  deserves a better name.

We have decided to keep all websites concerning PHPCOMPTA during the transition, with a few words of explanations. And in the source code, we will remove the name of PHPCOMPTA (especially for licence). The first released of NOALYSS will be exactly the same as the last of PHPCOMPTA except for the name.

We can either only rename the project or create a new one, you decide but we do need a git repository instead of the old CVS repository you have.

On another hand, if we create a new project,so we keep the CVS repository which prove that PHPCOMPTA was created in 2003 and is really the first accountancy software web based compliant with European rules of accountancy.

Kind Regards,

Dany

Hi Dany,

1) Why don't we just rename phpcompta to noalyss instead of starting a new fork?  Is there disagreement among the phpcompta developers?  (Or maybe that's what you were suggesting at the end there; sorry, I'm not sure.)

2) Is it really necessary to rename anything?  It's a pain, especially for users.  Can't you just say "here is a brand-new reimplementation of phpcompta", or whatever is appropriate?

best,
karl

Hi,

Actually, NOALYSS is the new name of PHPCOMPTA, and I'd like to use git instead of CVS. So I can't add a file (to upload) to the project, because I'd like to keep the history including the one of PHPCOMPTA. I uploaded the last tarball of phpcompta, but this file shouldn't be used : an upload was mandatory to register this project

The process to change the name PHPCOMPTA to NOALYSS is just started. I'll add the required GNU header in the files and then I'll push my code to the GIT repository. At this moment, I just an empty git repository.

During the last 6-7 years, I use an external repository for PHPCOMPTA with subversion,  I convert this repository to git and I'm working on it. I'd like to keep the history of PHPCOMPTA in the new repository of NOALYSS, so I'd like to push everything.

Or we can't only change the project name PhpCompta and you give me an empty git repository.

Hi,

I'm evaluating the project you submitted for approval in Savannah. While doing so I have noticed a few problems which are described below.

The package you've uploaded contains several files without license header. For example, many files inside the include folder. I guess you didn't add it because those are files for being included in the middle of other source files, but even in that case you should add a little license notice, a line containing "This file is part of PhpCompta." and a link to the COPYRIGHT file this will be enough. Same is for the file "release-note", if your will include it in the distribution package, it must include a license header.

The rule is that every file more than 10 lines long must include the license header.

Please check http://www.gnu.org/prep/maintain/html_node/Copyright-Notices.html for more information, and update your files.

If you are willing to make the changes mentioned above, please provide us with an URL to an updated tarball of your project.  Upon review, we will reconsider your project for inclusion in Savannah.

Regards.
