OK I'm experimenting with using %c for long dates and %Y-%m-%d for short dates. I added a task at about overriding this via a user setting.

I think this should be the default option. Please display dates in the YYYY-MM-DD format, as these is the least confusing way to do it and the best fit for an international community.

Just today we got confused about a date on the Savannah tracker because of the American date format :-) The discussion consisted of
:: but I thought that bug was last updated a month ago"
-- uh no, I just got the reply yesterday
:: oh wait, hang on, I was confused by the date

And being of an extremist bent, I think it's not worth trying to offer any options here. ISO 8601 or else!

I'd like to ask to add an option to allow selecting date/time display format in user preferences. Perhaps offering direct PHP date() or stftime() format string.

I'd like to see an option to set ISO 8601 date and timestamps for all displayed pages.

As savannah is used from geographically varied locations, perhaps this could be even be the default time format.
