This has been changed for you.

http://git.savannah.gnu.org/cgit/auctex.git

Is as you have requested.  Closing this out now.

Hi John,

indeed, the spam filter was configured in a way that discarded any message that doesn't match the old CVS commit messages.  I've adapted that to the new Git commit messages, and now they make it to the list.

One remaining problem, though:  The subject of these mails is like

[SCM] UNNAMED PROJECT branch, master, updated. 346206b80dd119abff25dccee39442e45ae3b8f5

and inside the mail UNNAMED PROJECT also occurs twice.

I guess the reason for that is the same why

  http://git.savannah.gnu.org/cgit/auctex.git

shows "Unnamed repository; edit this file 'description' to name the repository.".

So could you please edit auctex.git/description to contain just "GNU AUCTeX" instead of the sentence above?

I sent a test email to auctex-commit@gnu.org, which should show up here:

http://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/auctex-commit/

But it did not.  Can you make sure that this archive list is functional and that those subscribed to the -email is unavailable- email list received it?  The git repo is sending commit notifications to the same email address.

Thanks,
John Schmidt

Hi John,

the auctex-commit archives at http://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/auctex-commit/ still only show the latest commits that were done before moving to Git.  And since your comment, I've done some commits/pushes (yesterday), but those don't show up (at least yet).

I have enabled notifications for auctex-commit@gnu.org.

hooks.showrev defaults to "git rev-list -1  --pretty %s", displaying the commit id, author, date and log message.

Let me know if anything else is needed or modified.

Hi Michael,

then please send the full diffs+commits mails to auctex-diffs@gnu.org.

What do you use for the notifications?  Git comes with a script

  /usr/share/git/contrib/hooks/post-receive-email

that can be used for that purpose.  Depending on how you configure hooks.showrev, you can include/exclude diffs.  The default is just to display the commit id, author, date and log message, as it would be appropriate for the -email is unavailable- mailing list.

Hi,

At present there's not a good way to split the notifications.  We're only able to do full diffs+commits.

What's the best way to approach this?

AUCTeX switched from CVS to Git some weeks ago.  Could you please enable commit notifications for us?

Commit messages should go to auctex-commit@gnu.org.
Commit messages including the diffs should go to auctex-diffs@gnu.org.

Thanks,
Tassilo
