Two issues were identified and resolved. 1) GDB added a new prompt for a Y/N question which DDD did not recognize. This pattern was added to DDD. 2) OP had a .gdbinit file which modified the GDB prompt, which resulted in DDD not recognizing that GDB was waiting for input. Removing the .gdbinit file resolved the resulting hang.
GDB is the underlying debugger for DDD. Please make sure GDB is installed on your system.
On Tumbleweed, ddd displays an hourglass cursor. Removing ~/.ddd/init does not help, though. ddd is unable to run because gdb is unavailable. I've used ddd in the past on opensuse Tumbleweed. Is there a fix for this? Thank you.
