Kubuntu 14.04.5 LTS (trusty), tar (GNU tar) 1.27.1

Could tar please not remove files, even if --remove-files is specified, upon EOF?
- Ack, never mind this point. (But confirmation that it doesn't would be appreciated.)

Further, could it please delete the half-added file from the archive when EOF occurs?

Scenario:

I'm making some tar archives. I don't always get what I intended into the command line correctly.

I start a --create --remove-files tar invocation, and hit Ctrl-C.

tar reports EOF.

I attempt to restore the archive to restore things to the point before invocation so I can resubmit the invocation.

Result:
(1) The tar contains the half-added file that experienced the EOF.
(2) The restore overwrites the not yet removed file upon which EOF was experienced, with this half-added file.

Could:
(1) The tar delete the half-added file from the archive. (Or have an option that defaults to doing so.) So that (2) above doesn't occur.
